Gathered to Leave Saint John

Joel, Bud, and Andrew waiting at Deer
Lake

Our layover at Deer Lake over, we were on
our way to Goose Bay!

Gathering on the tarmac

Lawrence and Melanie saw seven men
gathered and figured we were the ones they were waiting for.

Goose Bay is isolated. Leaving town on
the only Gravel road out of town, this is what you see. There is
one gas station in Churchill Falls, but Lab City is the next sizable
community.

Our first stop was the Church
Building. The trusses had arrived by barge that morning.

Sunday Morning we went to the Church in a
rented space.

Monday moring, we started work.
240 truss peices to get up to the roof and board in.

Ray didn't claim to be much of a
handyman, but he carried a ton of lumber where it needed to go.

We paused for a group photo by the newly
erected sign.

Lawrence and Melanie

The Labrador flag is everywhere

We worked until Sunset. It felt
good to see the roof going up.

Lawrence was a squirrel on the roof.

There were many 8 foot boards to nail on.

Sand, sand everywhere. Hardly a
rock to be seen.

The back of the roof approaching
completion.

Bud and Andrew on the roof.

The brave ones worked to the peak.

The Canada Jays, or whiskeyjacks, were
very bold around any food.

Paul Campbell, a resident of Happy
Valley, and Lawrence's right-hand man during much of the construction.
